“Our community is filled with such generous people and organizations that give of their time and talents to do for others and this awesome event is just one more example! We were thrilled last year to hear about this event and this year we’re excited to be doing a spotlight on this event so that we can help get the word out. The advanced registration helps greatly with meal preparation, etc.. so please kindly share this with anyone that you think would be interested in attending and/or their caregiver.” – Heather Heuman
The following information was obtained from the coordinators of ‘Night to Shine’ and will be a great insight to the ins/outs of this great event!
What is Night to Shine?
It is a prom for those individuals with physical and/or mental challenges (15 years old and up) that may or may not have had the chance to enjoy one in high school. It is a time to eat, dance and play! It is a chance for our community to come together and serve!
What is the theme this year? 1950’s! Happy Days! Poodle skirts and leather jackets!
Parent/Caregiver Welcome to Attend Too –The parent/guardian is invited as well as the individual with special needs to our meal and dance. On the registration form you will find a place for the RSVP number. Be sure to let us know how many we can expect from your family/group so we can prepare.
Why should you attend? On this night our guests will be treated to free hair and make-up service, a meal, a dance, games, prizes, and more. Parents/guardians are welcome to relax in our Respite Room where we will provide refreshments. If you are not planning to attend the event with your individual with special needs we do ask that you plan to pick them up promptly at 9:00 PM. To get a better idea of what to expect, check out this video that Abell Media put together for us last year – https://vimeo.com/64890926.
