Fort Knox: 3 Easy Steps to Receiving Your Gate Access Card
The Fort Knox community is not only for military families, but also has an extensive list of events that are open for all surrounding communities. However, if you do not have proper Department of Defense (DOD) identification Common Access Card (CAC), Retire and Dependent, you will be required to obtain an access card to gain admittance to Fort Knox. Don’t let this stop you – there is a lot of fun to be had at Fort Knox, KY! If you follow the 3 Step Guide, you will have your one-year access pass in no time.
The first time accessing Fort Knox you will enter using the Chaffee Gate entrance located right off of the Bullion Blvd exit of 31 W. When you arrive, you will see the Welcome/Visitor center to the left of the gate entrance. This is where you will park and enter the building. The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from the hours of 6am – 9pm. If you are attempting to access Fort Knox outside of these hours, don’t worry, simply use the far left lanes of the Chaffee Gate entrance, and they will help you get access.
When you enter the Visitor Center, ask for an Extended Pass Form. Complete the Extended Pass Form and return to the Visitor Center security officer, along with your driver’s license or identification card. Anyone who is 16+ years old is required to check in with an ID card. Younger than 16 can gain access with an adult. Once the Extended Pass Form and an accepted form of ID is submitted, your information will be reviewed and upon passing the regulations in place, you will be granted your one-year access pass. You may then enter Fort Knox using any of the 3 gate entrances during their operating hours. The access pass is absolutely free.
